Neil's and Maiti's Wedding cont...

cont…..

The “Long and Winding Road” was an interesting run. Besides seeing loads of lambs frolicking around, hairy Highland Cattle the thing that was a surprise to us, beside the snow still to be seen on some of the hills; the drop in temperature to 4’C, was the road signs I had never come across before,. A triangle with a massive Snowflake – Ice! I am beginning to get seriously worried at this stage, as we have gone from 17’C to 4’C; from clear blue skies to rain and drizzle. To a climate where Daffs and Snow Drops are just starting and our are on their way out. The scenery is spectacular as long as one does not step out from the comfort of the car.

The Hotel was thick walled and “Warm” – thank goodness. The meal was probably amongst the bests we had ever had. The bed was two double beds bolted together. Now I know the Scots are tough little buggers, but sleeping on boards! Well the bed was a wee bit firm: and the Scots as I discovered they are not so little.

The breakfast was something over and beyond, but we did leave the pattern on the plates, even Marie ate breakfast – unheard of.

Well the time has come to get dressed for Neil’s and Mairi’s wedding. Couldn’t get into shirt my favourite shirt, Red and white, vertical thin stripe, but now looks like TV interference – eaten far toooooooo much. Marie had an inkling, so brought a replacement. The only thing I had to pack for the wedding was my cuff-links. Three guesses – what did I forget!.

Silver cuff-links were discovered in an old wash bag,( thrown in at the last minute), that had not seen the light of day for six years, was now black tarnished. – How to clean, The hotel “House maid” went above the call and came to the rescue with Braso, and her life story whilst she had a go. .

The weather was fine and about 11’C – No wind and No RAIN! We arrived at the Castle at the same time as Neil and Mairi’s Uncle. Neil was totally calm so much so that he was driving, and not the gibbering wreck I expected. In fact I did not see him or Mairi “flap once”. But that’s for later.
